July travel
Jun. 23rd, 2006 11:15 pmHistorically, July and August have been dead for training at QNX, and this has been a welcome relief. But, not this year. So far, I'm in Grand Rapids, MI for July 11-13, then in Warren, MI for July 17-21st, and there is a good chance of a third week in Michigan (Detroit area) for July 24-28. So, since this will be summer, I'll be riding my motorcycle.
I haven't yet decided on the details, but likely leaving Ottawa on Saturday July 8th, for summer part-wayish, maybe Toronto or KW. Then on Sunday, making it to Ann Arbor/Ypsilanti, then on to Grand Rapids on Monday. Tues-Thurs in Grand Rapids. On Friday, down to Cincinnati, Ohio. Return to Michigan for Sunday July 16th. Then headed for home, Saturday July 22nd -- again maybe stopping part way, Toronto and/or KWish. And, home again on Sunday the 23rd. Or, of course, if the 3rd week in Michigan materializes, push the 22/23 back to 29/30.
Of course, much of that is quite flexible -- and depends on who I visit on the way, and what schedule works for those people.
And, the best thing, I'm going to get mileage -- I'm going to get PAID or riding my motorycle! Isn't that just the best?

Date: 2006-06-24 07:26 pm (UTC)The rules & FAQ don't answer my question.
If I am tagged as a sitter for 2 of my allies, am I allowed to log in as them when they are offline and direct their troops and builds?
I know that trades between us HAVE to be 1:1 etc.
Any idea if this is allowed? If so, our guild is likely to Triangle up all the members to maximize mobility, activity and reactivity.

Date: 2006-06-24 09:42 pm (UTC)"Online 20/24, try your luck to spot my sleep time
(If my sitters sleep as well, lol)
Being in top 10 of the best aggressors, i'm sorry if i killed your troops"
I'd assume that someone that high-level would have been banned by the multi-hunters a long time ago if it was against the rules.
I've seen guilds declare on their front page that you must get paired with inguild sitters...
Re: Off-Topic Question about Travian
Date: 2006-06-24 09:55 pm (UTC)I would say that it clearly goes against the (my understanding of) the intention of the "sitter" role, that is, to have someone cover for you when you'll be away on holiday or for extended periods of time. But, I'm not sure it is against the technicality of the rule, or whether it is enforced.

Date: 2006-06-25 03:37 am (UTC)In this thread: http://forum.travian.com/viewtopic.php?t=19578&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=15 BlackPaladin (who I THINK I've seen closing threads, therefor I think is a forum mod) explains that Adoros is a former mod and admin (of the forums, I think).
Again, I don't think that makes his answer completely authoritative.
So, I posted in a big, long thread where flying fortress has been answering questions asking for an authoritative answer. We'll see if I get one.
