I travel, therefor I read
Jun. 19th, 2006 06:27 pm2 more books read...
Book 18: The Merchants' War by Frederick Pohl. This is a sequel to The Space Merchants by Pohl and Kornbluth written several (many, possibly into the decades) later. It, unfortunately, suffers from being a sequel, so the world and ideas aren't all that new, and suffers from, I think, not being as good as the original in writing, plotting, etc. Maybe that's the loss of half the author affecting things. On the whole, a solid meh.
Book 19: Conqueror's Pride by Timothy Zahn. First book of a trilogy, and this is classic Zahn. Combat SF, strong heroes, fast-moving, and fun -- but nothing particularly deep or heavy in here.
