anti-war song lyrics meme
Mar. 27th, 2006 07:10 pmSeen on a number of friends' ljs, post lyrics from an anti-war song that you remember seems to be the theme.
I can't remember all the lyrics, of course, since it comes from my childhood. I'm sure someone wrote it, but I learnt it from one of my sisters who learnt it somewhere. Probably learnt it before I was 10, actually.
Listen children to a story
that was written long ago
about a kingdom on a mountain
and the valley far below.
On the kingdom was a treasure,
buried deep beneath a stone
and the valley people swore
they'd have it for their very own.
So they sent a message to the mountain
...
Came the answer from the mountain,
"With our brothers we will share"
So the valley cried with anger,
"mount your horses, draw your swords"
and they killed the mountain people...
And the found the mountain treasure...
"Peace on earth" was all it said.
Yup, I can't remember all of it -- just bits of it. Oh well.
Googling gets more... called "One Tin Soldier", main poem apparently by Dennis Lambert and Brian Potter, performed and refrain by "Coven". Full lyrics that seem to match what I remember.
