I travel, I read...
Mar. 18th, 2006 06:41 pmWell, only two were on the trip... one was beforehand.
Book 8: The Dragons of the Chuyahoga by S. Andrew Swann. Another faerie overlapping/bordering on/gating onto our world type novel, and also another detective-style one at that -- but this one about politics of power in the interface. A fun read.
Book 9:Slow River by Nicola Griffith. Hm... lesbian cyberpunk? I definitely enjoyed it, good characters, well told.
Book 10:Warm Worlds and Otherwise by James Triptree, Jr. A collection of short stories by a classic author, which happens to include the (in)famous introduction where Robert Silverberg discusses the inherent masculinity of James Tiptree's writing style, etc. (James Tiptree, Jr. is a pseudonym for Alice Sheldon, a woman.) I'd read some of the stories before, re-read most that I had previously read, and appreciated again the quality, and strangeness of James Tiptree Jr.'s writing.
