Yes, I had a great time for my Confusion weekend this year.

The driving went well, no major incidents or weather -- there was a big slowdown into Toronto on the way home (4 lanes closed) but we dodged much of it by surface streets, and there was a bit of fog just as we were approaching Ottawa. I did miss having a second driver, though.

Highlights:

Overnight Thursday with [livejournal.com profile] metalana was good.

Brunch on Friday (while I was passing by KW) with [livejournal.com profile] corbet was good, and she was actually up, awake, and dressed when we rang her doorbell!

Dinner at Detroit conventions with [livejournal.com profile] zencuppa is becoming a very welcome tradition for me, and we had a nice dinner together Friday evening.

Meeting Wil D, after noticing the rope work on his forearms (it was gorgeous), getting a chance to look through his portfolio of beautiful full-immobilisations all done in black rope (and black and white photography), and getting a chance to talk to him about rope bondage was great. I need to buy more rope. I want to find black rope. I wonder if there's somewhere in Ottawa I can buy black, 3/4 (or 1/2) inch solid-braided polypropylene rope? (Most of my other rope has been bought at Canadian Tire, it is white 1/2 inch nylon. CT had polypro, but it was all in yellow. Nope, that just didn't work for me.)

Working registration for 8 and 1/2 hours on Saturday nicely filled the day for me. I think I'll plan on something similar for next year.

Erica! I hadn't seen Erica at a Detroit convention in, probably, 5 years. We used to flirt, and dance a lot, and I really missed her. Then, while working registration this year, I noticed someone walk by that looked a lot like Erica. But, I knew she was somewhere in New York (Ithaca, IIRC), so figured I was mistaken. After the third time she walked by, I was pretty sure it was her, called out, and yes it was Erica! Yay! Said hello, but she had to run off to a panel. But, said she'd be back to dance at the dance. We danced to a bunch of stuff, then I noticed (during My Sharona, I think) that she was Cha-cha-ing to it. (Well, doing the Cha-cha basic to it, solitary, at least.) I matched her. We then did a bit of Cha-cha and Swing to the music, then after the music had stopped, and the dance floor had cleared, we did some Rhumba, some more Cha-cha and Swing, some Waltz, some Foxtrot, and some Tango. We ballroom danced for another hour or so, and it was wonderful. She also taught me a bit of something to a dance that others were line-dancing to. (Two-person Hustle, maybe?) I hope she'll be back for more, but it doesn't seem likely -- she was there because of the fan GOH.

Dinner with [livejournal.com profile] eviljohn, Scott and Sue Tekel-something and their baby further solidified my "I'm never going to have a baby" decision. The baby wasn't that bad, but they did need to bring her back from the washroom in different after changing her. She also was a very burpy baby... often spooging white fluid out of her mouth, leading someone to make a comment about her probably still doing it when she was 18, and the rest of the table to crack up laughing at this comment.

Port tasting. Wonderful, again. This time I brought a bottle to contribute. Karen was gorgeous in her black dress, and Sal conduct the evening wonderfully, as always.

Sleeping in Sunday.

A mellow day Sunday, much of it spent on a couch in the lobby with [livejournal.com profile] zencuppa, saying good bye to the con.

Dinner Sunday with the fanGoh, [livejournal.com profile] thatguychuck and a bunch of other wonderful people. [livejournal.com profile] brendand quite surprised me with a blessing, though it took me a couple minutes to realize he had done so. Very well done on his part.

Thank you again [livejournal.com profile] jeffreyab for Sunday night accommodations in Sarnia, it is greatly appreciated.

Brunch on Monday with [livejournal.com profile] horsetraveller was also wonderful, and I was quite happy to be her exotherm for the occasion.

Miss you all, it was wonderful. Let's do this again, soon, ok?

Hm... yeah, that's another good idea. The co-op you're probably thinking of is MEC, Mountain Equipment Coop. But, there is a good chance that the rope they have is "too good", that is too expensive, for what I want. Really, I don't need rope that you can trust your life to, repeatedly, on a 500 metre cliff. (Well, unless I start to get into suspension work, but even then, I'm not going to have the same strains or risks.) Hm... I wonder what they do when they retire their rope... I should ask my sister and/or brother-in-law, as he is a pretty serious mountaineer.
