Home to bad news

House was broken in to while I and room-mate were both away. (They forced open window that had AC unit in it.) Still figuring out what is missing -- looks like an odd combination of things. Like they took two dresser-drawers worth of socks. Why socks?

I may have to drink Gin -- they didn't touch that.

I'd come over and drink some of it, except I got up at 4:30am today. (Well, it was "only" 6:30 Ottawa-time, but it still felt really early.)

Quick, before Ironphoenix gets here: they broke in and looked around for stuff to steal but then they got cold feet.

Grf! Deep sympathies. We had our place broken into once and I remember how lousy it felt.

They took my shoelaces, which bewildered us at first. (I also remember it making me particularly angry, because ffs, SHOELACES?) We finally realized that they had probably used them to tie shut a clothes hamper (ffs, MY CLOTHES HAMPER?) that they had filled with stuff. Maybe the socks were padding for something delicate?

Socks might be for the bottles from the bar? But there weren't spare socks in that area. And I don't think there were many delicate things stolen that would need padding.

It is just kind of strange.

This isn't the first time, is it? I hope this doesn't hit you too hard in the premiums.

If you're interested, I can point you at some software which does motion detection and triggered capture on webcams; I use it as a visitor alert for my cubicle, since I wear headphones.
