My parents gave me a pair of Billy (SP?) book shelves, with top pieces, giving me two 7'9" x 31.5" (approx) book shelves. They each have 7 shelves, 30" shelf width, for a total of 14 shelves of 30". These were intended for my hardcover & trade books, which don't fit on my wonderful custom-built paperback-sized shelves. So, I've installed my hardcover collection on them... and they're about 80% full. (And, I've finally unboxed all the books [livejournal.com profile] carynb gave me way back at Ad Astra -- until I got these shelves, I didn't have the shelving for them. I had the space for shelving for them, but not the shelves themselves. I had plans to acquire the shelves, which have now, through the wonders of Christmas, appeared.)

Oh, as to why I got my Christmas present now, rather than at Christmas... this year my family is doing Christmas at my sister's place in Invermere, B.C., and my parents didn't feel like taking the bookshelves there, and then having me try to fly them back again.

yay on two counts!

Bookshelves for your poor boxed books! And early gifties are always a bonus!

Your parents are smart cookies!

*experiences serious bookshelf envy*

Or maybe that is just envy that you have spare wallspace to put a bookshelf... We have filled up all our walls, so bookshelves will have to wait for a bigger house... sigh...
