Cottage storm

I was up to the cottage today, with Jex, to help my parents with cottage-opening stuff: removing the storm windows, putting the pump intake in the lake, dragging a canoe down to the lake, etc. Shortly before dinner a brief but strong storm blew through with strong winds and a bunch of pea-sized hail. The winds also took down three trees around the cottage, again with none of them actually hitting the cottage, but the power-line in to the cottage did get taken down, again.

Jex and I also had a pleasant canoe around the lake during the afternoon, and a nice ride on the motorcycle to get to the cottage. Coming home was a bit wet, though not too bad. The really heavy rains from the second storm front to pass through, though, had washed some deep crevasses into parts of the road, though.

Is it time for another clean-up day?

I think some friends of Jenny's are going to be up there from June 1-5 and have a chainsaw, so will probably do the clean up needed. This is just a few trees -- nothing like the major blow-downs we went after for the last clean-up day.
