Doing ok in French

But, I expect I'll be toast in Italy.

I've actually managed to do most of my (limited) day-to-day stuff here in French. I just had a conversation with the front desk in French about being in my room, and not needed it to be cleaned. And, yesterday, I dealt with a tow-truck driver completely in French (he guessed I was from Quebec). Given how long ago it was that I studied French, I'm pretty happy with this.
