With recent references to Pho Bo Go-Go dancers, flying spaghetti monsters, and other silliness, why do I think too many of my LJ-friends, including me, should really be getting more work done?

Oh well, it's Friday and even Friday afternoon, right? We're all far more dedicated workers the rest of the week, right? Right?

And Friday afternoon before a long weekend. It's amazing any of us are at work at all.

Should be working?

Hmmmm. Its much more fun to discuss FSM theology. i'm thinking of writing an academic endorsement for the site. His noodly appendage is at work in so many ways in neuroscience, from the appearance of the convexities (so very noodle like that children routinely try to pretend noodles are brains for halloween pranks) to the very fact that the term 'noodle' has snuck into the vernacular as a substitution for 'brain' or 'head'. How can one explain thosse things only using sole-less evolutionary and cultural forces? clearly the fsm has had his noodly appendage in it from the beginning.

Work? Oh right, there's that terrible memo I have been avoiding.

Dunno if it's too early to be asking... but Arisia? Room share? Drive share? (I assume that you and [livejournal.com profile] foms are planning on attending.)

i keep trying to work, but my damn patient still hasnt' shown up. my luck she'll show up at 4:55 in er (how it's taken her over 4 hours now to drive from kemptville I don't know). i should probably head over soon anyway as I have a follow up that will take me 10 minutes to do over there as well. it seems a waste to go over for just ten minutes especially6 as all i'll likely do is keep her on the same drugs she's aready on and arrange for follow up in my office as an outpatient....

I am desparing that my pregnant numb person has been eaten by wolves between kemptville and the civic er.
i suppose that I should actually go to the civic and see my not-seizing anymore person.
Sigh. At least if it still stays quiet, i get pho soon! Beeper turns off in 1 hour and 20 minutes!

Hope for beeper to go off.

For some of your patients, I could easily believe that they'd just completely forget that they have an appointment, that they are even supposed to come to town. (And had been thinking maybe that happened with this patient.) But... "pregnant numb" suggests a different type of patient.

I do hear the wolves are something fierce once you leave the city limits, though.

Sorry, I meant for "hope for beeper to be turned off" not "go off".

Darn the English language anyway.

All of them very fierce, especially out by kemptville. I'm sure that this one was very succulent eatn's.
what I'm afraid of is ' well since I was coming up to ottawa anyway, i thought i'd get a nice lunch, do some shopping and some sightseeing, and when the stores are closing, then maybe its time to think of ogoing to the ER....'
35 minutes to go, but who's counting....

I have apparently been turning "going to Arisia" into a habit, so I am theoretically in for both.

Cool.

This will, of course, raise the "who's car" question. Often it is mine, but IIRC, yours is an automatic, and I don't know if you (or other possible alternative drivers) drive standard, and mine is a standard.

Three years ago when we drove w/ CG and F we took mine because I have the newer car (2001), or maybe larger or something like that.

I drive standard, I don't know about Ragnhildr or Con_girl but I wouldn't be surprised if they do.

Yeah, I think I've bought a car since 2001.

And since you drive standard, I'm ok with either car -- I just didn't want to be the only driver.

Hm... if we accumulate enough people from Ottawa, we may be taking two cars. Assuming R, CG, and F are all interested, plus you, me, and Concordantnexus, that's 6 people. If leolac is still around, and is interested, that would be 7. Wowsers.

That might be "worth renting a van" category.

We'd have to do the math -- cost of rental vs savings in fuel (and wear & tear) for just one vehicle . But, it might be worth it, yup. Hm... would depend on how expensive they make having extra drivers, too. Some rental companies are pissy about that.
