Climbing gear
Dec. 5th, 2011 09:36 pmI'm engaged in, probably, my last climbing-gear sort of the year. When I go out climbing, things get jumbled -- used, knotted, sometimes tangled, and end up hanging off my harness, or jumbled into my climbing-gear container. And, I sort the gear, re-rack things where they belong, and generally neaten things out, hopefully before I next need the gear. This is handy for sorting and making sure I haven't lost anything, but it is also good in that it means I handle most of my gear fairly regularly when not climbing, so I can watch for wear and damage, and if I notice any, decide if the piece needs to be retired, before it becomes dangerous. It does take a bit of time, but I think it is worth it.
