Oh ya, I'm home safely :)
Jun. 30th, 2005 10:15 amI'm home again. Was slightly distracted* last night, so didn't post an "I'm home" right when I got here. The trip home went reasonably well, good distance the first day, then shorter days Tuesday and Wednesday. Overnighted with
elizilla and lj-less-Michael in Michigan on Tuesday, and made it out to the local fannish gathering at Tio's. Unfortunately, no interesting roads to post about on this leg of the trip, it was almost all slab, with just a bit of curvy on US 12 in Michigan, and county road 10 (old Perth Road) from Kingston up towards Ottawa.
This trip was a little over 7000 km in total. Previous trip about 3700. So, in the last month, I've done about 11,000 kms on the motorcycle. In the previous four years, I'd averaged between 10K and 11K kms per year. This is a much better year for riding. Then again, there are reasons for this, too.
*Was good to see
leolac again. :)
Now, some laundry and some planning and some shopping. Then, some packing and off to the cottage. Yeeha!

Date: 2005-06-30 07:37 am (UTC)Anyway, hope your drive goes smoothly -- and if you can avoid (somehow?) I80/I94 that might help.
Also, my Ann Arbor friends tell me that I-94 and I-96 into Detroit are all torn up nasty into Detroit and to the crossing to Windsor. From Ann Arbor, I actually went up US 23 to I69 then accross to Port Huron/Sarnia. Coming from Chicago, you might want to hang a left on I69 when it crosses I94, and go that way. It's a bit longer in total distance -- though not greatly, as you have to come northwards from Windsor towards London anyways -- and will avoid the nasty construction in the Detroit area. (I don't have any solid suggestions for avoiding the I80/I94 mess in Indiana, though. Don't know that area as well, maybe I90? Or hit I80/I94 (or I94) as far east as possible?)
