I didn't go in with very high expectations. Episode 1 crushed those. I didn't even go in with particular high hopes. Episode 2 crushed those. It was pretty good, actually. I enjoyed it, and I didn't find anything that overwhelming annoyed me -- the Jar-Jar time was kept to an absolute minimum.

Ok, the ability to breathe around all that lava was a bit much for my suspension of disbelief, but it was dramatic looking.

I really enjoyed it. I wasn't expecting much (similar reasons to what you mentioned), but I think this may be my new favourite of the six episodes. Hayden Christiansen is still annoying, but Anakin himself is annoying and I had no problem believing it in-character.
