So, I'm off work until the 5th. I think I want to fill that time with gaming and maybe some other stuff. Some is, already, booked though.

27th - booked
28th - booked
31st - booked

The rest of the time is free.

I'd like to do a combination of things. I'd like to organise some general gaming, but I'd also like to arrange for one or more focussed get-togethers. That is, to plan to sit down for a specific longer game with the correct number of players.

Games I'm looking at for this -- not all mine:

Through the Ages (yes, again, me +2 players).
Struggle of Empires (me + 4-6 players) [I haven't played this yet.]
Die Macher (ironphoenix has a copy, # of players?)
Age of Steam (ironphoenix has a copy - what is playing time estimate?)
Brittania (me + exactly 3 players)
Twilight Struggle (me + 1 player)
Maybe Diplomacy (me + exactly 6 players)

Does anyone else have any longish games that they'd like to suggest?

Who is interested? What are people's availability?

I am up for pretty much anything.

Alas, no. There are a handful of other gamers using Jagash and Age of Conan is not one of the ones I have played in.

It is unique, but others either stumbled on the letter combination or copied me from another area.

And work schedule between now and the 5th?

Non-existent, I go back to work on the 5th.

Aye; See the Ottawa Oneshots community for my own proposed gaming.

I'd be interested in trying to regamin my dignity in Through the Ages (though I historically re-enacted the fall of Napoleon very accurately!),

I'm free definitely on the 3rd or 4th (either evening or day gaming), possibly on the 2nd. I would potentially be drawn into Age of Steam as well.

Oh, another game to be proposed. Empires of the Middle Ages; I have a copy of the old chit simulation game and it potentially runs long.

Any thoughts on how good it is?

It's a 7.04 on BGG. Apparently it's a classical chit and territory simulation game, varying in length from "evening" to "It lives on that table."

I saw that on BGG. But, being an old game, the rating will probably be biased since anyone that still has it will have really liked it.

I figured you might have read through the rules, looked it over, and have an idea how you thought it might work. Especially an issue would be down-time considerations with lots of players. Older games often didn't look at this.

I'm interested in playing many of these, although Brittania doesn't appeal much, and I'd like to rest on my Through the Ages laurels for a little while.

My availability next week is a bit sketchy; I'll discuss it with Suzanne, since I would like to spend time with her but also give her the space she'll want.

Advanced Civilization is also on my "to play" list, as is Long Live the King; I propose that we pick a day in April for the latter.

Civ and/or Adv Civ is a definite possibility. I played Civ back in the day, but probably haven't in something approaching decades.

LLK in April time frame could work.

Adv Civ obsoletes Civ, imo. It's long, but I find it worth the effort; the trick is finding 7 or 8 others who agree. (Nominally, the game plays max. 8, but I've suffered no lasting harm from playing with 9.)

LLK: Excellent! We shall pick a date sometime after the current flurry of social calendar activity, then!

I have looked over the rules rather quickly, but it was a gift from my father who never got a chance to play the thing. The booklet is only about 20 pages, including all of the scenarios and optional rules. It seems that some of the smaller scenarios could be played in a reasonable span of time (approximately 4-5 hours for newbies).

I'd love to play advanced civ, I'm working the 30 and 2 but if it was on another day I'd be in.

Would any of the optional variants come into play? Western Expansion or special city sites?

The WXM is very helpful when playing with 8 or 9. The special city sites ("Civilization and Trade") aren't my favorite variant: they make the game too military and even more asymmetrical, in my opinion.
