Climbing!

I decided to hit the climbing gym today, see what I could do three-limbed. Not too bad, actually. I started with the baby wall, and that was easy. I then climbed three different 5.7 routes without too much difficult. That is, cleanly and without falling on the rope. Then there was this interesting 5.9 I kept looking at. I made it most of the way up, but couldn't do the finishing move. I finally cheated, added one foot hold, and finished it.

All in all, I'm quite happy with the results.

But, oh it was hard looking at this or that bouldering problem or climbing route, and picturing the moves, and not being able to get on the wall and just do it.

A little help, for the non-initiated...
I understand "climbing route", but what's a "bouldering problem"? :)

Ok, bouldering is a style of climbing where you never get (the top of your body) more than 10-12' above the ground, that is, a height from which you could generally expect to jump/fall without hurting yourself. This tends towards shorter climbs, but also towards stuff that emphasizes either technical or physical challenges, or both. Traditionally a "route" is something that is longer, and that you climb roped. Traditionally, for bouldering, the short, powerful challenge is called a "problem" rather than a route.

Wow, good for you! With the Aircast and all? Most impressive.

(I still can't go for long walks, but almost everything else is back to normal. No more cast, but now getting physical therapy twice a week. Even did pilates twice this week--with only two moves I had to modify. Whew. And oy, my abs are letting me know they're there.)

Yeah, with the aircast and everything.

Glad you're out of your cast -- sounds like you're healing faster than me.
