And, about 24 hours later, it has dropped from 2 bars of charge to one bar. Apparently the representation of charge is not particularly linear. I wonder how long it will last at one bar.

It's definitely not linear.

Rechargeable batteries charge/discharge on a bell curve. They charge/discharge faster on the low and high end of their range, and slower in the middle.

I know the discharge pattern isn't linear... but the monitoring software should be written to understand this, and give me something closer to linear than what I got:

3 bars (maximum) -> 2 bars took more than a week
2 bars -> 1 bars took about a day.

Oh, yeah. I agree there. I've always wondered why they don't do this, unless it's just not predictable enough due to different environmental conditions, etc.?

I've had the number of bars increase on my phone while it's on. Not often, but it happens sometimes.
