So, due to the latest delay I have a free flight to anywhere I want in Canada or the US (Alaska and lower 48). The question is, where to go, and when?

Thoughts:
Denver for Worldcon.
Rock climbing somewhere exciting.
Where ever is most expensive on NW.

I'd go to Alaska.

Hmmm, seems to me you could get two of those for one. Denver is right near the Rockies, so there's got to be some killer rock-climbing to be had somewhere within driving distance. Also in Denver is the Tattered Cover, which is three floors of glorious independent bookstore goodness.

Failing that, I suggest somewhere warm.

I'm not, actually, much into the somewhere warm. But Denver for Worldcon & climbing sounds like a good idea. I'll have to look into what is available fro climbing expeditions (probably guided) near Denver.

I would so totally go to Alaska. That'd rock like diamond.

You should totally go to Denver for Worldcon. Because Foms and the rest of the setup/teardown team are going to need people to help bring the elephants, barges, and donkeys in for teardown.

Browse a copy of "1000 Places to see before you die," or some similar text. Heck, make up your own. Pick one. My guess is: They're all good.

Someone else already suggested what I would do--Denver and then climbing after the con! We're taking an extra week and renting something we can take offroad in southwestern CO and the Rockies. No climbing, though--Himself isn't built for it, and as much as I love rappelling, the going-up bit has always been a problem. :-/

Oh, great, scare him off, why don't you?

Either way, Dagibbs remembers what the word volunteer means. His choice. I'll just sit here, in the dark...[g]

But does he know why we need to barges? Or the people to help flood Denver so we can get the barges in to the convention center?

Bwahahaha. Foolish mortal, the truth will find you whether you seek it or not!
