somedays it doesn't pay to fly
Oct. 15th, 2003 06:28 pmI was in Boston on business last week, and because I had lots of things to do over Thanksgiving weekend, I decided to take the really early flight home from Boston -- it left at 6:40am, so I was up at 4:15 to be at the airport in time. I'm supposed to fly Boston-Montreal-Ottawa, and be in by about 9:30am. But, when I get to Montreal, Dorval airport is fogged in, and we circle for a bit, then go to our alternate, Mirabel. There we get to sit on the ground for about 3 and 1/2 hours -- stuck on the plane. (Mirabel is a huge, dead, airport -- and we can't go anywhere cause we're in custom's bond.) Finally we get back to Montreal, around 12pm, and after standing in a couple different lines for an hour or so, I discover the next flight to Ottawa is 4pm. I finally get home around 5:30pm. I could have gotten home faster by driving. Some days it doesn't pay to fly.
Otherwise, Thanksgiving went well, with only three big meals that had to be consumed. (My parents, her parents, friends get together.)
