Losing my aura

dagibbsHad a group of 5 for gaming this evening -- ragnhildr, ansfrid, beable, me, and donnav.
We started with Tongiaki, won by donnav where I came dead last. We concluded it was a fun light game, but that the coincidence of how the start went was too strong an influence, with first player being too powerful a position. I wonder how we might balance things.
Then we played El Grande -- ansfrid ended up winning, with a very tight grouping of beable and me just behind him. I think that all were in agreement that El Grande was an awesome game -- ragnhildr and I both had previous experience and liked it a lot. ansfrid and beable were playing their first games, and both made very positive statements about it.
All in all, a good evening. And, we finished off my 15-year cake, too.
