It is spring, so a young (or not-so-young) man's mind turns to outdoor climbing. And today was sunny with a high of 2C, and I need to use a few days of vacation before the end of the quarter, so I bummed off work today, and Su and I went out to spend the mid-part of the day at Lac Sam.

She was working on the route she has under development, but I didn't have a current project, nor a particular one in mind at Right Wing.

So... exploring for new places to put routes. This involves a bunch of scrambling around in steepish-to-steep terrain often near the tops of cliffs. I managed to slip on steep bit (foot slid out from under me), not an exposed bit, but the fall was still very jarring as I landed on an elbow, and whomped my head with that shoulder. Everything in the whole region (right shoulder/neck/upper-back) feels stiff an ouchy... but nothing feels broken or sprained... just jolted around a lot. We'll see tomorrow...

I did find a few possible new routes... they'll be shorter than many others around (10m-15m), but look to be fun. I started cleaning them before we broke for snacks, then we top-rope tested them., one looks to be juggy-fun 5.easy (5.3? 5.4?), and the other maybe 10+ tricky slab.

It was really good to get out of the city.
