Arrived in El Cerrito
Nov. 28th, 2016 10:00 pmI am exhausted -- lack of sleep plus a hectic trip.
The processing of my luggage was delayed in YYZ, or at least the reporting that my luggage was processed was delayed, and YYZ has also re-arranged lines for US immigration, and the Global Entry lines seemed both longer and slower moving than the regular lines -- which is not the intent.
Then, I had to transfer in LA, and unfortunately it seems that Air Canada (at least YYZ -> LAX) arrives at the international section of terminal 1, and United flies domestic out of terminal 7 and/or 8. And to get from one to the next you have to leave the secure zone and take a connector shuttle that fights with ALL of the pickup/drop-off traffic. After waiting 30 minutes and seeing no shuttle, I checked with someone hanging around that it was walkable, and just headed out walking. Gotta be a mile, and in awful air from all the exhaust. Then, of course, back through security again. Just barely made my boarding.
And, of course, I hit bay-area traffic around 3pm for the drive from the airport, up through San Francisco, across the Bay Bridge, and further north along the east-side of the bay.
