New dishwasher
Nov. 24th, 2016 11:29 pmI have been through a bit of a dishwasher year.
The dishwasher I bought many years ago started requiring, as Amelia put it, "adult supervision". More precisely, it wouldn't fill -- so you had to manually fill it at the appropriate times. Start was easy -- but you had to catch both the other fill points, too.
A friend of a friend had an old dishwasher he had replaced, and he offered it. So, I replaced the previous one with his. It was far louder. And, while not requiring adult supervision, it didn't really wash dishes. That is, the dishes didn't really come out clean unless they were mostly clean to start with. And, it was loud. Ok, the first one wasn't quiet -- but it was ok. This one was noticeably loud.
My parents have been asking for a while is there was something they could do for me. They've given both my sisters a bunch of help over the last few years (loans of down-payments for homes type help), and I haven't needed such help. And, I've always said that I didn't need the help, and my sisters did, and it was just fine with me that they were helping my sisters more. But my parents want to be "fair", to also help me... so I finally gave in and said they could buy me a dishwasher.
So, I have a new dishwasher. A nice stainless steel Bosch unit. And it washes dishes. Clean. And it is quiet. It is running right now, and all I hear are quiet water burbling noises. I had to check whether it was the dishwasher, or someone running water in an upstairs sink.
Life is good.
