weekend wrap-up

I was more distracted than usual over the weekend. Here and there I forgot little things. Oops. I still had a good weekend, though.

Friday evening I had dinner with Kim -- we went to A Thing for Chocolate for crepes, and I had a hot chocolate that was quite delicious with my also very tasty crepe.

Saturday I went out climbing at Home Cliff. The weather was just excellent. And, I was climbing well. (Climbing) friends had been telling me I was climbing well, but I wasn't really feeling/believing it. But at Home Cliff I re-climbed several things I had previously found hard, and found them easy. Then climbed a route that I'd not ever succeeded on before, and climbed it clean (though on top-rope). So, perhaps I am climbing pretty well.

The weather was so excellent that I was, unfortunately, late for 2nd Thanksgiving chez Flail. I brought a 20-yo tawny port as an apology for my lateness, which was graciously accepted. The food was excellent and in more than sufficient quantities, and the company was also good.

Sunday I had brunch with mycrazyhair, then she asked about somewhere she might buy chocolate... and I'd just been to A Thing for Chocolate... so we drove over there before I dropped her back off chez Flail.

I had Sunday plans with Kathleen as well, but these got delayed -- so I engaged in the excitement of laundry. Yay clean laundry. Then dinner with Kathleen, a bit of port, a bit of shopping, and to bed.

Despite the inauspicious start to Friday, the weekend was very good.

Passport. Why does www.cic.gc.ca/ refuse to load? Ok, download, install & try another browser. Still nope. Hm... UK hosted site for Canada passport stuff loads. Oops, though, that's the form for Canadians abroad I just filled out without noticing. Oh, the main form loaded! Cool. Start filling it out... next page... oops that failed to contact the host, and now has thrown away all my edits. Ok, this time, download it and work from a local copy. Done. Now, off for passport photos... oops Black's is out of business. Ok, Shoppers. Oops, their printer has no ink left. Ok, another Shopper's. Back to work, let's print that application. Oops, the printer doesn't recognize my temporary work pass for releasing print jobs (stupid secure print system). Argh. Who can I get to print them. I'll send them to Dawn. Oops, she's not around. Maybe Steve can do it. Oops, he can't print from his Linux box right now. Ok, Sandra can do it for me. Now I need a guarantor. Who has their passport info? Nope, not Steve or Sandra. Wait, Hue travelled recently... try her. Yay, she remembers most of it, and has known me long enough. Just doens't remember the issue/expiry date -- has year & month, but not day. Maybe that will be enough. Off to passport office, show forms to doc-check guy, including point out missing date -- he says it will be fine. Get number, wait for number to be called. Person actually handling form says you need the date... not on the form for nothing, can I call the guarantor. I know Hue doesn't know, and passport at home. Ok, I could come back tomorrow morning... is ok, they'll call Hue in the morning. I warn Hue. I may be buying Hue lunch tomorrow. :) They promise me passport by Friday at noon. Pay the people -- 10 year passport + stolen passport penalty + rush job extra cost. I head home.

Dinner, then out for board-games and catch-up time with Amelia, who I haven't seen in far too long. Was good.
