Weekend and YOW -> ORD -> SNA
Aug. 14th, 2016 11:09 pmDespite the grey and damp weather, the people who made it to the cottage seemed to have a good time.
Friday evening we had Felix, Ana, and Kate. We played a couple games of Transeuropa and had a relaxing evening, with a short (me) to medium (Kate and Felix) swim.
Saturday continue to be grey, so we didn't rush to head out. Sophie joined us around 11:30 bringing Laura with her. We had some lunched, then headed out by canoe for Jumping Rock for some swimming and deep-water soloing. The rain managed, even, to drop-off as we headed out, and mostly stayed away until we were done, too. We had some good fun, and Sophie did an awesome ascent up to the top of one section. Twice. As we headed back to the cottage, it started to rain (lightly) again.
We relaxed with a couple board-games (Kakerlaken Poker then TransEuropa again). Then Sophie prepared some yummy self-assemble rice wraps for us to share. Just after this was all eaten, Michael showed up with Sarah. A little bit of settling time, then the rest of dinner was thrown together -- hamburgers with fixings, supplemented with a BBQed Pork tenderloin, grilled root veggies, and some potato salad.
And, then Sophie and Laura had to head back to the city.
Another relaxed evening, some drinking, some chatting.
Sunday involved some more swimming, and a relatively relaxed departure as it became clear that the rock wouldn't dry enough to be worth waiting to climb.
I made it from departing the cottage at 12:05pm, home at 1:08, through unpack, shower, pack, drop something off at a friends place, then to the airport for 2:10pm.
Now, I'm in Forest Lake, California.
