Long weekend camping and climbing
Aug. 2nd, 2016 08:21 pmMichal and Ania organized an ACC trip to the Parc des Grand Jardins, which is about an hour north-east of Quebec city. The park is gorgeous. The section we were in was a valley (looked glacier-carved), with rock faces on all sides, and we camped at Le Pied-de-monts campground, which was pleasant.
We spent all three days climbing on Le Dome, which is a tall (about 200m), wide cliff, though not generally steep in the sections we climbed. (We did not climb in the secteur des toits.) All the climbs I did were multi-pitch trad, with bolted anchors and good rappel lines to descend, though others in our group occasionally got on climbs with either gear anchors, or one with a walk off. The climbing was interesting, and the rock texture at times utterly fascinating. Gear was generally good, and it was nice to do some quite long climbs.
On the other hand, camping sucks. I don't sleep well normally. Camping just makes it far worse. At least the company was good.
