A May Long weekend
May. 24th, 2016 03:00 pmIt was a very busy one.
Friday night I drove down to Toronto, checking out a small obscure crag along the way. Then had pie with metalana, and over-nighted on the purple sofa.
Saturday I drove out to Mt Nemo conservation area to climb with Michal, Ania, and Andrea. We climbed several good climbs at the west end of Mt Nemo, were happy for the shade, and not too badly bugged by bugs.
Saturday night I went back to Brantford with Michal, Ania, and Andrea, where they made me a very nice dinner (and I supplied wine) and breakfast the next morning.
Sunday, once again, we went to Mt Nemo -- but this time we headed for the east end of the crag, which is a very different experience. Clearly the west end is the popular end -- this end was less bolted, less climbed, with dirtier routes, and more shrubbery around. We were, also, joined there by Oz and Andreanna (sp?). It was, though, another good day of climbing.
We were delayed getting out of Mt Nemo by dog and gear clearing concerns, so I was late to mycrazyhair's potluck Sunday evening. But she had been nice enough to save me some food, even if tormenta at my galette. I spent a pleasant evening with a group there. It was good to see a few of my Toronto friends.
Monday, since Ania, Michal, and myself would have to drive back to Ottawa, we decided to climb at Bottleglass which has a very short approach. I also brought tormenta with me from Toronto, and
switterbeet met us there, also coming from Brantford. Unlike Nemo, Bottleglass is south-facing, so that was a very warm day in the sun. Ania mananged to get heat-stroke, so wasn't feeling good during the afternoon. I took care to wear sunscreen, spend some time in the shade, and drink lots of water -- so I was ok. I think both tormenta and switterbeet had a good time.
After the day of climbing, I dropped tormenta off at the subway, and drove home. Now, I need to do laundry. Again.
