Despite delays out of Denver, my flight out of Chicago was delayed just enough for me to make it. I was surprised, in fact, that I did -- I arrived at the gate just before they started boarding, despite the flight being posted as "closed" on the flight boards. Even my luggage made it home.
I didn't make it out climbing during the week as I'd hoped, since it rained most of the week. On Saturday, though, I got to climb the First Flatiron, which is a lovely, long, run-out, but mostly easy slab climb. Definitely over 1000ft/300m. I'm not sure how long the climb was -- but a couple people mentioned 1200ft or so, which would be closer to 400m. Sunday I also headed out climbing, but that didn't turn out so well. It was a warmer day, so we headed up to Lumpy Ridge in Rocky Mountain National Park -- hoping that altitude would keep the heat down. It did, but after the hike in, then a very physical (off-width for parts) first pitch, I was getting my ass kicked by the altitude. Not just out of breath, but even after recovering my wind and sit for quite a while at the first pitch, ongoing nausea. Unfortunate, because it look like an awesome climb on great rock. Still, the views were great.
