Another post-weekend report...
Jun. 8th, 2015 11:35 amIt was a good weekend. Though, today my right shoulder is bothering me. I didn't notice it last night, though, and don't feel like I did anything especially rough to it climbing on Sunday. Maybe I just slept awkwardly?
Friday evening was spent with figure_it_out, since she was feeling better. Feels like the tail end of whatever she had wasn't contagious since I still feel good.
Saturday was a light day of climbing at the Western Cwm with Tamara, who is still fairly beginner. Some teaching -- cleaning anchors and lead belaying. Since she was a new lead belayer (though using a Grigri which gives some extra safety), I stuck to leading stuff I feel very comfortable leading. I did manage to get a rope stuck on pull on Route A at the Cwm, which meant bouldering up (ok), then back down, the opening sequence which is, also, the crux of the route. It is nominally a 5.5, but the start feels a lot harder... though with a couple solid jams, it feels more like its rating.
Saturday evening a friend from TO was coming to town and staying chez moi. We had dinner, went for a motorcycle ride up to Huron lookout in Gatineau park, then got home in time for a late-evening game of Ticket to Ride: Europe with Amelia, Paul, and Kim.
Sunday was another day of climbing, and route development, at Lac Sam. I looked at bolting one climb that has been cleaned -- but noticed it still has a big chunk of rock that needs to be trundled before I'm happy to bolt it. Same thing for another route. I did add a couple bolts to two routes that needed one more bolt, though. Also did more cleaning on a gear route that should go about 5.8 -- I'm pretty confident now that it can be completely lead on gear, and doesn't need a bolt at the start. I also climbed a few climbs while there, too.
Sunday evening was another game of TTR:E with the same gang, minus Kim.
Lots of good times over the weekend. And, of course, another busy-looking weekend coming up, too.
