A busy long weekend
May. 20th, 2014 11:35 amThe weather forecast for this weekend was disappointing, but the actual weather ended up being really quite excellent.
Friday evening I had dinner with ragnhildr, con_girl, and foms at Host India which was quite delicious, then back to my place for an after-dinner drink.
Saturday, K8 and I went up to Lac Sam where we cleaned up and re-tagged the trail to upper cliff, happily discovering that it was in quite good shape this year. Then we wandered around the base of the cliff with a lot of scrambling looking for where there might be interesting routes. I then bolted one climb as a sport climb, while she did an initial scrub on a couple more short routes.
Then Saturday evening I had something I could have gone out to, but decided not to. But, Amelia, Paul and Zan came by and were interested in a board game, so we played Terra Mystica finishing around 2am.
Sunday there were supposed to be four of us climbing at Western Cwm, but Paul rebooked to Monday and Zan cancelled, so it was just the two of us. I suggested to K8 that we head to The Weir instead, and she agreed. So we spent a bunch of time climbing there, grunting up some off-width climbs and getting tired.
Then, Sunday evening I went over to xiphia's place to taste a couple of yummy liqueurs she had and see her new place. We ended up tasting some chocolate that niall_ brought, with some port that I brought. We had a nice evening, and I headed home around 11pm.
Monday morning 4 of us (me, K8, Glauco, and Bruce ) met at my place to head to Montagne d'Argent, where we met Bertrand (expected) and Genvieve (unexpected, I hadn't seen here in a couple years) and were later joined by Paul and Ushko (his dog). We climbed a bunch of stuff, some together, some in seperate pairs/groups. I took Genevieve up a nice 3-pitch climb, her second ever multi-pitch, but this time with a bunch of "what's going on" information rather than just follow it. We climbed until 8pm or so, then headed back to Ottawa.
After grabbing some quick food and a shower, I picked figure_it_out up at the bus station around 11pm on her way back from Toronto and hung out with her for a bit, too.
So, a thoroughly jam-packed with climbing & social time weekend.
