We found some good snow on Blackcomb Glacier. A bit of work to get to, though -- 3 chair lifts, then a t-bar, then a short hike up hill. Would have been an easy hike, except for doing it on snow, in ski boots, carrying skis at 2200m (7400ft). I hadn't really felt/noticed the altitude much, though at least partially because I wasn't that high most of the time, and partially because I wasn't hiking up hill. And, maybe, I just blamed the out-of-breath from harder mogul runs on being out-of-shape rather than on thin air. But in that bit of up-hill walking, I really noticed it. But, we also found the best snow on the mountain(s).
In sadder news, it looks like I'll be shopping for new ski boots. One of the boots in the current pair has cracked across the toe, so they'll need to be replaced. I'll likely wait for sales at the end of the season, as the boot is still skiable -- though I don't know how much longer it'll last. These boots were a high-end boot when I bought them (Nordica Syntech F8, not their top-end boot, but next step down), but that has to be some 20+ years ago. Actually, I'm sure I had them for my skiing vacation before I got the job at QNX, so that's more than 22 years ago. I guess I'll see what has happened in boot technology in the last 20 years.
