Gaming was good
Jan. 6th, 2013 12:08 amI had a reasonable crowd in the before-dinner, I think peaking at 10. First was Alana and gang (Lottie and Bob, and their kids, Thomas and one whose name I don't recall), then Antra, George, and Deanne who was going to knit, but also ended up moving some robots around. Yes, we started with Ricochet Robots (me), which works well as people accumulate. ironphoenix arrived just as Ricochet Robots wrapped up. We then broke into 2 groups, 4 playing Brass (me) with Deanne sitting in for the rules explanation and Puerto Rico (Thomas). After that finished, Alana and gang left, and it was about 5pm. We expected _niall for dinner around 6pm, so the remaining 5 (me, ironphoenix, beable, Antra, George) of us played Modern Art (beable).
_niall arrived for dinner, and Antra and George left. We went for all-you-can-eat Korean BBQ, which was, as usual, yummy and filling. Then we pulled out Age of Steam, which went to a 4 close finish among the top 3, me at 96, beable at 94, and ironphoenix at 90. (ironphoenix gave me one extra income on his last delivery, kicking me from the 6 income reduction to the 8 income reduction level, or in other words, costing me 3 VP.) It was an exciting finish to a close-fought game.
All in all, a good day of board games.
