Yesterday we were going to do a 5-pitch climb in Sleeping Giant provincial park, but the trail that was part of the approach had been closed due to erosion. There was a new trail, and it looked like it went about to where the other trail did, so we took that. It did go to about where the other trail did... at the top of the climb we wanted to do, not the bottom. All-in-all, we ended up hiking about 20km (including almost 300m of altitude gain) with climbing packs on. That's way too much hiking with packs on, especially for me -- I like short approaches.
