A good day yesterday
Apr. 1st, 2012 12:54 pmI got out for my first day of local outdoor climbing yesterday with figure__it__out, K8, Jonathan, and Phil. It was a beautiful day for a hike in the Gatineau park, which is good, because we went to Ron & John cliffs. These are notoriously hard to find, and despite Jonathan having been there before, and apparently, having GPS coordinates for them, it still took us an extra 45 minutes (on a 45 minute approach) of bushwhacking around trying to find the cliffs. Hm... it was Jonathan that tooks us on the unexpectedly long approach to Gothics last summer, too. I sense a pattern here...
The were a few quite good climbs, but not a lot. If we could find a shorter approach, I might go back, but otherwise probably not.
Then I had a party Saturday night, which was also (I think) a success. I think about 30 people were probably through. Lots of good chocolate was eaten, fun was had, drinks were drunk, food was eaten, etc.
I was bemused at the clearly over-abundance of yellow and green jelly beans and gum drops left in the jelly bean and gum drop bowls this morning. There were, also, clear preferences other places... on the fruit tray, the pineapple went first, then strawberrier, then grapes, and finally the melon (honey dew) which did actually go. On the veggie tray, the cucumber disappeared first, carrots were also well taken up, the brocooli mostly disappeared, but late -- and there's lots of little tomatoes left.
