Evening of errands (or, oops)
Jan. 31st, 2012 08:32 pmI went to get dressed this morning, and discovered I had forgotten to pack socks & underwear. I guess I just wasn't awake enough when I was packing on Monday morning. Oops. So, this evening I had to do a bit of shopping. Now I own even more socks and underwear.
Then, I got to the car only to discover that the batter on my GPS was dead because the 12V DC power sockets in the car (both of them) were not actually producing power. Oops. So, I have to take the car to an Avis dealership and trade it in for a working car. Ok, I traded a car (VW Jetta) in and got a boat (Ford Crown Victoria LX). And, OMG, what a boat... it wallows down the street, you don't so much drive it as navigate it. But, at least it has power for the thing formerly known as a cigarette lighter and now known as 12V DC power supply.
Of course, I had to navigate to the Avis location old-school... by getting directions on line, writing them down, and following them based on street names and distances. How cool is that? ;)
Now that I have GPS again, I may try to find something more interesting than the hotel restaurant for dinner tomorrow... or find a climbling gym.
