weekend, nieces, socks, Chicago
Jun. 13th, 2011 03:26 pmIt was a weekend, though not exactly the weekend I had looked for. The weather reports for both Saturday and Sunday were pretty grim -- so I didn't go climbing, but both days turned out much better than predicted.
Friday I went directly to my parents place from the airport, since my sister and nieces from B.C. were in town, and, I thought, my sister from Hamilton. Turns out Jenny had dodged me by going up to the cottage with another friend who was having a rough time of it. Was good to see parents, sister, and nieces.
Saturday I ended up gaming, with a small group, but we had a pleasant time.
Sunday I wandered up to the cottage because sisters, nieces, etc were supposed to be there. Turns out Jenny tried to dodge me again! Rest of family was there, and spent a pleasant afternoon wandering around the place after Jasmine, playing Battleships with Jasmine, and teaching Jasmine the basics of Set. (We didn't play competitively, more treating it like a puzzle -- but she seemed to have a pretty decent grasp on the concept of what was a set.) (Jasmine is 6 1/2.) Jenny did show up late for dinner, so she failed to completely dodge me this trip!
And, in an hour or so I'll be headed to the airport to fly to Chicago. This is United, so I shouldn't be discommoded by the potential upcoming Air Canada strike. Technically, I won't actually be in Chicago -- I'll be staying in Schaumburg and teaching in Rolling Meadows, both of which are Chicago suburbs, but I'm flying to O'Hare.
I'll be back Friday... hopefully we'll have good weather this weekend, and I can get some climbing in!
