That was an awesome weekend!
Nov. 2nd, 2010 07:56 pmIt started with a flight "problem" that resulted in me being put on an earlier direct flight, rather than a later indirect one. This flight was, actually, 10 minutes late getting into Ottawa -- but given that I was 3 1/2 hours earlier than originally expected, I wasn't about to quibble.
Being early, meant I got the chance to grab a bit more dinner with ilanikhan and frenchzie, then make it to metawidget and rottenfruit's pumpkin carving party for a bit. Then, back to my place with frenchzie.
Saturday morning I managed to get some more shopping done, including picking up a bit more Port -- but failing to find the rum I wanted. (El Dorado 12 year. A couple people suggested another good sipping rum, but I keep forgetting what it is when I'm in the liquor store.) Then clinkerfiasco and I both (in parallel) cooked dinner for 3 people (each), and served it to 4 people (frenchzie, me, clinkerfiasco, and Shane.) There was lots of yummy food, and lots of left-overs. Is anybody surprised by the lots of left-over with both of us cooking? ;)
Then Saturday night frenchzie and I dressed up and headed out to a party. It was a good time, but unfortunately a couple people I had hoped would be there didn't actually make it.
Spent Sunday with frenchzie, very pleasantly, then off to a birthday dinner at the Koreana for soul_diaspora. It was a wonderful evening. After dinner some of us wandered off for dessert at Pure (a gelatto place on Elgin). I at too much milk, though, which left my GI tract feeling kind of off for much of Monday.
Then, back home for Ashley's Hallowe'en and going away party. After a quick change, I wandered down to the party where, as expected, I didn't know most of the crowd -- though, did know a couple I didn't know/expect would be there. I had a good time, and apparently looked comfortable enough with the crowd that several people I met just assumed I knew most of the others. I met a bunch of interesting people, especially the wonderful perfect_gold ("Best. Halloween. Ever. Hands down 100% ever.") who, sadly, will be heading back to the wilds of Wisconsin tomorrow.
Sometime around 1am (I think) clinkerfiasco decided it should be turned into "that kind of party". People played with everybody's favourite party toy (the violet wand), the cross was setup, etc. The party finally broke-up around 5am, and I finally headed for sleep around 6am.
Sadly, I failed to find sleep on an extended basis. Nasty insomnia. Around 9:30 I mailed in sick to work, and went back to bed for more insomnia combined with a bit of napping. I finally crawled out of bed around noon. I spent the most of the rest of Monday hanging around with the people who stayed over-night after the party, though I did a quick run in to work in the afternoon to pick up travel documents, then dinner with Ashley and the still-around party stragglers (one of them slept on the living room couch until about 5pm Monday). Finally I wondered out to meet up with metalanna (and the big gang at the Pho Bo Ga 2), back home, said good-bye to perfect_gold, and crashed around 10pm. (Cause I had to be up way too early this morning, 5am, for my flight to Waterloo.)
A very busy, slightly extended (into Monday) awesome weekend.
