That was a weekend!
Feb. 8th, 2010 09:33 pmAs many of you know, commodorified, raynedaze, iclysdale, and fairestcat got married yesterday.
I hosted two parties, and 9-10 people over the weekend.
(BTW, LJs for any of the people who were here, that I don't already have, would be awesome. Or email addresses if they don't have LJs, cause keeping in contact would be cool. If I recall the people it was: Ed, Tim, Sara Jean, Izzie, Kat, Mel, Andrew, Kelly, and Nelle. The 10th was, greycat for a couple of the nights. But I know how to reach him. :)
I'm thinking I now need to make it up Madison way. Hm... wonder when Wiscon is, and will most of these people be there?
Friday I venued, and helped host, a port party. This ran from somewhere around 7pm to about 4:45am, when the last of the party-goers staggered to their beds. Luckily, they were all local. The farthest stagger was to the upstairs back bedroom. :)
Saturday, brunch at the house of flail was great, and then they all went away! I got to clean up from the party in relative quiet, and have dinner alone. Sadly, the internets were sucking, so I didn't get much online catch up.
Then Saturday evening I got to take the wonderful and talented zingerella out for an evening of Swing dancing at the local club. It was very enjoyable, and she is a wonderful dancer -- she knows far more than I do. (As became apparent at the wedding, too. That lady can dance!)
After dropping her back almost at her hotel (the block it was on was closed off by the police for some reason). I came home and should have gone to bed -- but instead sat up chatting with some of the guests for a couple of hours.
Sunday morning was a wonderful Dim Sum, organised, hosted (and paid for) by the amazing con_girl. Thank you muchly for that.
Sunday afternoon was the wedding itself -- I brought stereo, and took it away. The wedding itself was really wonderful. I like the service, the vows, and the really deep caring and love in their relationship. And, OMG but there were a lot of awesomely dressed people at that wedding. pecunium in his dress blues. con_girl and the hat of awesomeness. All three of the brides. Lots and lots of kilts. Beautiful dresses. Colours. Black. We are a many-splendoured thing.
I had fun dancing. A nice foxtrot with zingerella. Interactive rock with mycrazyhair. Competitive kilts and energy to "Home for a Rest" with curgoth. Swinging fairestcat around.
Then, the post-rev. Mellow, relaxed, but nice. It didn't run late the way the port party did -- wrapped up about 2am. But, the Madison crowd had to be out at 8am, so that made sense. And we were all really tired.
Today, I emailed work, and took the day off. Then I went back to bed, and slept until noon. Pho with raynedaze and friends, then iclysdale came over, to help with cleanup, sorting, and taking away all the stuff that ended up. Then, finally, tea with raynedaze and some friends and it was all, for me, over.
I had a wonderful time.
I really needed that 1/2 day Saturday without people. I've found, I think, the limit for my extrovert. :) But, I came into this weekend from about 6 weeks of very busy, very social, very travel time.
