Quite the winter storm out there.
Getting there wasn't too bad, though I did see someone get a lesson in winter driving for cheap. (Well, probably quite the scare, though.) The Queensway was pretty good shape -- I was doing about 115-120 comfortably in the left lane, with someone slowly gaining on me. I came to the 416 exit, and slow way down -- to about 65 or so, and the person who was gaining on me went flying by me on the off-ramp. At the end of the off ramp, as the 416 came into view I got to see that same person fish-tailed half way around, they clipped a snow bank, fish-tailed back and forth a couple more times, and came to a stop facing mostly backwards in the middle of the lanes from the other on-ramp. Luckily nobody was coming, so they were able to pull around and drive away. Hopefully they've learned to slow down for snowy off-ramps. :)
The party was nice, I brought a few games, and t (of i_and_t) has a bunch, too. t had Race for the Galaxy, which was new and he wanted to play, so we played that first. Zooloretto was played in parallel at the other table. Then t-j requested Aquadukt, so being the birthday girl, we played that next, opposite a second game of Zooloretto. Then we had dinner, and finished off with a game of Power Grid -- at t's request -- but both i and t-j enjoyed it, so I see it on getting close on their purchase horizon.
The drive home was a LOT snowier. Getting out of their neighbourhood was a bit fun, especially the act of getting going -- though once going, keeping momentum was the key, as usual. Main roads were also pretty well snow covered, with drifting, but not too deep, so speeds around 60 were maintainable until traffic slowed things down on the 417. Driving down my street was the usual challenge -- though again maintaining speed was the key as usual, until of course the turn into my driveway where I got stuck. But, with some digging, I've managed to get the car completely into the driveway, so all is good.
Tomorrow, if the roads are clear enough... snowshoe in to the cottage!
