tired hands!
Aug. 28th, 2007 11:12 pmHad a long evening of climbing today, with quite a number of hardish routes. Got there at 7pm, was joined by 2 people from work around 7:15, and switched from bouldering to routes. I did mostly 5.9 and above routes, completing two 5.10c (labelled, one of them is a gorgeous route, but not 5.10c, the other is probably 5.10c, cause the finish includes a very tough dihedral leverage move followed by a very difficult hand-foot match). Worked on two very crimpy routes and made progress on them, flew up a 5.9 that I remembered thinking was tricky, but found it wasn't.
Also was joined at 8pm (so we split into two pairs) by a new climbing partner that I'd hooked with on the Alpine Club of Canada (ACC) - Ottawa division's web site. She's from Norway (ragnhildr, I met someone you could have used your Norwegian with), and is in Ottawa for a year, working at the NRC. She's also interested in outdoor climbing. Yay!
After everyone headed out around 9:30, I stayed and bouldered until 10:15pm -- mostly doing stuff I knew pretty well, since I was tired. But, was working on pushing the tiredness farther than I normally do.
Was a pretty tough night on the hands -- not just tiredness, but sore, too. Lots of skin abuse. I'm really developing a lot of callouses, I just wish they could develop on the pads of my fingers, too -- but that just doesn't seem to happen.
Also, to my surprise, tchang shouted hello. He was out climbing with a buddy, too. He seemed to do pretty well for his first time -- I'll bet a lot of that comes from the strength, balance, and endurance of doing martial arts.
He asked me whether I had a gaming day planned in the near future. I didn't, but I'm thinking maybe Monday of the long weekend coming up. (Now that he's mentioned it.)
