Thai? food and a block party?
Jul. 19th, 2007 06:35 pmAsked in class -- yup no Indian in town, at least as far as restaurants. A couple Indians in the class, but no restaurant. They did suggest a Thai restaurant -- but it seemed to be more Asian Fusion, with some Thai, some sushi, some other stuff. My food was decent, but I ate with our FAE for the area and he (after saying it would be a bad idea) ordered Sushi and was not happy with it.
Also, there appears to be a "Thursday Night Block Party" setup one block over from my hotel -- I can hear it through my window. Not many people yet, but if it starts to look up, I might go down and check it out. Then again, I can hear it through my window -- maybe I don't need to do that to my ears. So far, mostly classic rock been played. They appear to have some sort of bean-bag toss thing (bean-bag horseshoes-ish) set up for this "block party". I'm so thrilled.
[update]I think they might have a live band doing covers. There's been several classic (hard) rock songs in a row that have sounded not-quite-right. Currently we've got "Sweet Child of Mine". [/update]
[update 2] Definitely live band. The lead has just been talking up the "audience". Ok, there are a few people out there -- but not a lot. And, yes, it is definitely loud enough here, inside. Curent song: "Smoking in the Boy's Room".[/update 2]
