It started with some nice snuggling in bed with gabriel_le, who had gotten up early but wasn't feeling too good, so came back to bed. Then we had some breakfast and I made a chili. We went out and bought ourselves snowshoes, then headed up to Gatineau pack and snowshoed around for about an a hour and a half. It was a nice day for it, and we both were glad to get out into the woods. We straightened things up a bit, then did a bit of music practice (she is practicing flute, I'm working on drumming with a hand drum). We spent the evening doing some gaming with a few people (seperate report upcoming) who wandered out around 1am. We moved some clocks forward, and headed to bed for more us time.

All in all, yesterday was a really yummy day.

gabriel_le and I had been talking about doing another gaming get-together, and how to make it work a bit better. We both wanted to do some of the more serious games (Sercon - Serious content), but also to not lose our day to gaming. We decided a gaming event with specific invitations for it to be serious gaming oriented, rather than whatever was chosen, would be the plan; and that we'd make it an evening (5pm) start, so that we still had much of the daylight available to go out and do stuff. This seemed to work fairly well.

ansfrid was first to show up, just before 5pm. We chatted a bit, then decided to pull out Alhambra (borrowed from foms, thank you) as a fairly quick game while we were waiting. We got started, and beable arrived while we were playing. Then as we approached finishing Alhambra, foms and ragnhildr arrived, bringing our numbers up to 6. We had ragnhildr's cookies as an appetizer for dinner, and I won the game of Alhambra. I also discovered that cooking rice while gaming isn't always successful, when I smelt something burning from the kitchen and scurried out to turn off the rice, and start another batch.

After Alhambra, we broke for dinner -- chili all around, with pie for dessert. With 6 of us, and the sercon intent, we looked at choices -- basically a crayon-rail game or Power Grid. Knowing that a crayon rail would take the rest of the evening, and (in my opinion) really drag with 6, we went with Power Grid. We were just doing the setup and I was about to start on the rules explanation when to our wonderful surprise, kattale arrived. Now we had to split -- so we kept 4 for Power Grid, and gabriel_le, ansfrid, and kattale went off to select a game. They chose Carcassonne which gabriel_le either won, or tied for a win (I didn't see the finish), then they started a game of Buffy, with gabriel_le playing the evil side. Back at Power Grid, we had an interesting game with most of the mid-level powerplants coming out very late, and in the finish ragnhildr won with 17 fired cities to my 16 -- if I had calculated the final auction correctly, I could probably have fired 17 as well, but she might still have won on the money left as I'd have been very tight for resources and cash. We then pulled out Amun Re for our second game. Over at Buffy, the scoobies ended up killing Adam, though not without cost as Xander heroically gave his life for the cause. Amun Re finished with me winning, and the other 3 reasonably close in score (2 of them tied, the other a couple points behind).
