Alana is hosting a scrabble party at my place on September 24th. The details of the invitation are here. It is a fundraiser for a literacy program, and you are invited.

And, because that post is friends locked, and some of you might not be able to see it, here is the relevant stuff:

Scrabble Night in Canada

As discussed previously, I'll be holding a fundraiser for Frontier College literacy programs, and you get to participate. In fact, you can do so from anywhere:

Scrabble Night in Ottawa: Sat. Sept. 24
dagibbs has kindly offered to host the party. Please contact me or him if you don't know his address (which is near Bronson & Somerset). It will be a potluck at 6pm. Drop by anytime that evening.

Scrabble Night in Toronto: Sat. Oct. 1

Scrabble Night Online: Sat. Oct. 1
At the Toronto party, my computer room will be available for anyone wanting to play online. [livejournal.com profile] revdj says he hangs out at www.isc.ro, so anyone can join us virtually.

With enough people, there will be room for the competitive player, the casual player or the crazy player (I like making up variations of Scrabble).

Regardless of whether you can attend, and where, you can:
Register online to collect pledges
Sponsor me
If you have trouble with these links, and need to search, I'm registered as Alana Boltwood and the team/party name is "Purple Sofa Players".

If you aren't registering, please leave a comment or email me to RSVP for either party. I also hope to hear from people who can bring a Scrabble board and/or Scrabble dictionary. Please come, regardless of how much money you can raise or contribute, and bring a friend.

About 25 trees down on the property, including some of the really big hemlocks. Too much down for my dad, even with my help, to deal with, so they're going to have some professionals in to take out at least the biggest of the down trees. They also said that on some points on the road in, enough trees are down that the canopy is completely gone, and the road looks completely different.

Sounds like the time when help is going to be needed will be after the pro's have come in to remove the big trees -- there'll be a lot of slash left that will needed to be moved/cleared out and stacked somewhere. Sounds like this will probably be later in the autumn sometime, probably Octoberish.
