The end of a week in Ottawa
Mar. 12th, 2004 05:13 pmWell, I'm making it to the end of my 4th week in Ottawa this year. This one hasn't been quite as frantic as my previous two "intermissions", since both had longer bracketing blocks of travel, and for the first of them I had to not only do all my paperwork/follow-up/prep stuff, but I was also teaching that week.
I actually did something social! Had a pleasant dinner out at the Yang Sheng with con_girl and foms last night. Ok, the teasing about being an "out of town friend" was rubbing a bit of salt in the wounds. Still, the fact that kgkofmel's cat had started to recognise me enough to not run in fear when I visited was a bad sign of something.
Tomorrow, that is Saturday, evening I fly off to Germany for a week. More teaching. I've been to this site before, though, and it is a nice enough area, and there are lots of things I can walk to from the hotel, so that will be ok. Of course, the "shuttle from airport to hotel" is still pending arrangements are their end...might end up being a taxi, or the admin assistant who picked me up last time might end up doing it again. At least this time I should have no difficulty recognising her.
And, I still don't have all my follow-up and clean-up from previous trips done, but I've got enough of it cleaned up that I can feel ok about it.
And, when I get back, I should be in Ottawa for 4 weeks straight. Well, mostly in Ottawa... I am voluntarily leaving town one of the weekends for Ad Astra, but that isn't a week away for work, so it doesn't count.
And, I'm currently resisting the "I never..." memage that I've seen on a couple friends' pages.
