another dance lesson
Oct. 28th, 2003 10:43 pmHad another dance lesson tonight. woot!
I'm finding I like Waltz and Foxtrot -- at least partially because the rhythm is (or at least seems) fairly simply. The fast/slow of Rhumba makes it trickier (at least for me) to get the timing right, which means I have to focus more on the rhythm (at least for now), making learning the other stuff, and getting the lead right, more difficult. Tango is even worse... and I'm sure I don't have the rhythm anywhere near right on that. We also added a bit of swing (east-coast swing, I asked), and it is a lot faster and more energetic. Not sure yet about it -- I expected to like it a lot, cause it looks like a lot of fun, very active and lively. I expect I still will, as I get more used to it. Also, the rhythm for swing, while faster, is even again -- so even when I didn't pay attention, and thought I might have lost step, I found at the other end I was actually still ok. (I might be off on whether it was a rock-step or not, but I was still on for the count/beat.) I'm really enjoying this, and very excited about it. :)
