another motorcycle ride!
Apr. 29th, 2004 08:05 pmToday was a beautiful, warm, spring day. And to make it extra special, I got a chance to take another motorcycle ride at lunch today. (This is special cause my bike is still in the shop.) A friend at work recently picked up a (second-hand, somewhat tricked out) Honda RC51. This is a crotch-rocket. Ok, it is the reasonable modern version of the Honda Hurricaine and VFR series of V-style sport bikes. But, it is still a crotch-rocket.
I took it for about a 45-minute spin, and it was quite fun. I hit the rev-limitter once, in second gear, near the end of an on-ramp. (This bike will do 0-100km/h or 60mph in first gear.) I will not actually comment on how much I exceeded speed limits by, or even that I did so. But, I came back from the ride with a big grin on my face, though wishing it also hadn't been a really windy day, so that I really could play with its top end. Maybe another time. It is a lot lighter than my Concours, but you get a lot more wind, and the riding position is less than entirely comfortable. It's not too bad, though.
