The NASFiC is shaping up to look pretty scary. The main hotel has instituted all kinds of crazy restrictions on when people can book rooms and how they can book rooms, and requiring people to pay in full in advance. It's really wacky. I think it's going to be a train wreck.

Oh, and yes, you should come to Penguicon. I'm running registration, in case you'd like to volunteer some time while you're there...

That does sound kind of scary. But, it is at a Holiday Inn, and I've got a whole bunch of free nights in Holiday Inns right now. And, it is relatively close -- I'd probably be able to two-wheel it.

I may wait and see what develops as far as trouble.

Could happen. How many hours does Penguicon want for reimbursement?

And maybe if you're staying on free nights you won't be subject to the weirdness. I just suspect there's going to be a lot of hotel nastiness.

Assuming that what I found on the Penguicon website is accurate, 6 hours. If the convention is in the black, yada-yada-ya.

So it looks like you will not need post Fusion crash space and will be arriving at Fusion on Friday, correct?

Absolutely correct.

Details: 6pm-10pm, at my place. (97 Cambridge St North.) Potluck.

Background: for years there was a regular bi- people get-together, once a month, at a particular restaurant (Maxwell's, IIRC). At some point, this morphed into a bi-poly get-together at the same restaurant. I started occasionally showing up around this point (which is still about a decade or so ago, I'd say.) The restaurant started providing horrid service, so the dinner moved. Around this time, there was a mailing list created for bi- and poly- events and discussion in Ottawa, and it is now a Yahoo group. (It has, since, been split into a bi- list and a poly- list, which is Polyamory-Ottawa@yahoogroups.com). Over time, after some discussion, and the issue being raised loudly by one particular person that restaurants are expensive, and potlucks would be less expensive, it was decided to alternate restaurants and potlucks (hosted at volunteered member homes) on the last Sunday of each month. (This person attended approximately one potluck, hosted one, and then was not seen at another potluck. This is characteristic of the person in question. (No, I'm not bitter, not at all.)) "But", you say, "this Sunday isn't the last Sunday of any month." This is perfectly true, but the last Sunday was New Year's Eve, and that wasn't a good choice, and doing it one Sunday earlier would have been Christmas Eve, also not a good choice, so I volunteered to hold the potluck one Sunday late, this Sunday.

Enough details?

That would be awesomeness. You, concordantnexus, and my sister are on my "to be visitted with" list for the time I'm there.

You are very definitely welcome to show up. I have no actual solid idea who, or how many people, will make it.

as a side note, you're not going to laugh at me when I can't keep up with you are you ? I haven't been climbing in a long time :)

I promise to not laugh at you for not keeping up. What I like about rock-gym climbing, is that climbers of quite different skill levels can go out climbing together just by picking different walls, or even sometimes different routes on the same wall, and it isn't a problem.

If we were going mountaineering, we'd both have to be able to climb similar pitches, or the stronger climber would be restricted to what the weaker could climb, and it might be less than as interesting as it might be. But for gym climbing, that isn't an issue.

Looking forward to seeing you in a couple weeks.
