Date: 2007-01-03 12:08 am (UTC)Background: for years there was a regular bi- people get-together, once a month, at a particular restaurant (Maxwell's, IIRC). At some point, this morphed into a bi-poly get-together at the same restaurant. I started occasionally showing up around this point (which is still about a decade or so ago, I'd say.) The restaurant started providing horrid service, so the dinner moved. Around this time, there was a mailing list created for bi- and poly- events and discussion in Ottawa, and it is now a Yahoo group. (It has, since, been split into a bi- list and a poly- list, which is Polyamory-Ottawa@yahoogroups.com). Over time, after some discussion, and the issue being raised loudly by one particular person that restaurants are expensive, and potlucks would be less expensive, it was decided to alternate restaurants and potlucks (hosted at volunteered member homes) on the last Sunday of each month. (This person attended approximately one potluck, hosted one, and then was not seen at another potluck. This is characteristic of the person in question. (No, I'm not bitter, not at all.)) "But", you say, "this Sunday isn't the last Sunday of any month." This is perfectly true, but the last Sunday was New Year's Eve, and that wasn't a good choice, and doing it one Sunday earlier would have been Christmas Eve, also not a good choice, so I volunteered to hold the potluck one Sunday late, this Sunday.
Enough details?

Date: 2007-01-04 03:07 pm (UTC)If we were going mountaineering, we'd both have to be able to climb similar pitches, or the stronger climber would be restricted to what the weaker could climb, and it might be less than as interesting as it might be. But for gym climbing, that isn't an issue.
Looking forward to seeing you in a couple weeks.
