packs and not climbing in Vancouver
Sep. 29th, 2006 01:31 pmWith my new, down-sized laptop, I decided I didn't need the massive laptop case that I had with the old one. But, I didn't get a chance to replace it with a new one. So, I borrowed a back-pack style one from gabriel_le to try for this trip. On the whole, I think I like the style, but this one in particular I'm not completely happy with -- I don't like the shoulder straps, they seem to hard, and they dig in uncomfortably. So, I think I'll buy myself one of this style that I do find comfortable. And, I'll have far more selection -- for my previous carrying bag, I had very limitted selection, since they had to fit the monster that was my previous laptop.
I also brought my climbing gear on this trip, thinking I might get out bouldering. But, I didn't get a car rental, so was walking about 20-25 minutes to and from the office accross downtown Vancouver. The walks were fine, but after doing that both ways, and walking to lunch and dinner, and especially as I was doing most of it in my dress/teaching shoes rather than a pair of shoes really designed for walking, I found that I didn't really feel like going out climbing. I'm going to try again next trip, though, as I'll have a car and won't be doing so much walking. And, especially, as I'll be in California for 2 whole weeks, including a weekend, rather than just almost a week.
And, apparently, I'm having a lazy morning. I should go out and visit the beach, or something, but don't know if I feel like it. We'll just have to see.
