it was another good cottage party

Another annual cottage party has come to pass with success. We had nine core attendees (me, raynedaze, her friend C, concordantnexus, M from Michigan, metalana, con_girl, foms, and ragnhildr) plus a Sunday visit from ansfrid and buttongirl.
The weather was changeable -- never really hot, sometimes a bit cool, often quite windy, sometimes a bit rainy. But, all in all, quite pleasant -- even if not really conducive to spending hours on end in the water. And, the weather being not conducive also meant that the water was not conducive -- it wasn't shockingly cold, being warm enough to "become accustomed to", but still required that, and even for the dedicted water people it was an hour at a time water, rather than all day water.
A number of games were played -- M and concordantnexus played a series of games of Kingdom and I don't know what the final running total for wins was. concordantnexus managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory to give foms and me a photo-finish that he took in a game of Euro-rails. I won a game of Puerto Rico, but didn't even come close to placing in the game of Tikal in which foms triumphed, closed chased by M. A couple rounds of Lupus in Tabula got played, with the werewolves ending up well fed, and Doctor Lucky got done in -- though I don't recall by whom, as I didn't play in that game. We also tried Inka -- but found a number of bugs in the rules, though I ended up winning. Some robots were ricocheted, but no count was maintained of winnings.
Too much food was brought -- I think in the future, I'm going to ask anyone who is planning/going to bring bunches of food to let me know, so that we don't overlap in the amount we purchase. Still, in many ways, I'd rather have a surplus than run out.
Much marvelling at the luck the cottage had in dodging bullets during last summer's heavy weather was done, and we hope there is no repeat of last year's weather for a good while yet.
I am now working through several loads of laundry -- some ours, some left-overs from my sister, left in a bag labelled "ottawa-bound laundry". I want it all done by the end of this evening, so I can drop it off with my parents tomorrow, when I have dinner with them.
Last year, I needed more bananas. This year, I bought 24 for a group of 9, and had left-overs. I wonder where the balance point is?
