Mmmmm Mountains
Jun. 15th, 2006 11:57 pmI wish I'd brought my camera with me this trip. It was a bright, sunny, day -- and one of the guys here mentioned that if I "turned right on 90th, it would take me up the canyon into the mountains" -- about a 20 minute drive. So, after work, I did that. Beautiful, gorgeous, craggy rocky peaks and cliffs, with fast-running mountain streams tumbling and rushing over rocks and the occasional logs. Just beautiful. I drove up as far as the road went -- it stopped at Alta, a ski resort. I want to come back here and ski. :)
And, on the way up, I noticed bunches of people parked beside the road, not always at particularly scenic bits, and I kind of wondered why. On the way back down, I noticed a couple people near one of the groups of cars, and they had chalk bags hanging on their butts, and my question was answered. Not surprisingly, it appears there is also a lot of good rock-climging (real, not in a rock gym wall-climbing) up this way.
The manager here did seem really happy with the training, and all the students did as well. And he says there is another group to train, and he'll try to arrange it to be during ski season, if it is going to happen. I'd definitely have to stay some extra time! :)
