Mmmmmmmmm Mole
Apr. 8th, 2006 11:19 pmI am arrived in California, and had Enchiladas in Mole sauce for dinner. Yum.
Unfortunately, the trip was about the opposite of yum -- left the hotel in Germany around 8:30am, arrived hotel here around 6:30 pm, with time change, that is 19 hours travelling. And, I'm distinctly unhappy with British Airways -- I was stuck with a center seat on the London-San Francisco (10h45m) flight, despite my best efforts. First I tried to check-in on their web-site, but that routed me through a circular loop of askig for a bunch of check-in information (like passport information), then telling me I didn't have the authority to update the information, so I couldn't select a seat. Then, in Stuttgart, they couldn't do seat selection for the flight either, so I was forced to wait until I got to Heathrow, and at 40-minutes to flight time, I was totally screwed. I am not best pleased with British Airways, no I'm not. And they're air miles don't go to anyone I've got many with, either.
Tomorrow is recovery day! Let's see if it works.

Date: 2006-04-09 06:30 am (UTC)I got the same thing with them 14 years ago. "Nice" to know they haven't bothered changing their customer service. They sometimes let seats get booked in advance, but I'm not clear on when.
I flew from Montreal-London-Tel Aviv with no problem (my travel agent had booked my seat)
6 months later, I flew from Tel Aviv - London, overnight in London and then to Montreal. I was unable in Tel Aviv to select my seat for the 2nd leg of the trip and then when I got to Heathrow they told me I wouldn't be able to select it until I got to the airport the next morning for the flight. By which time I bagged the last non-smoking seat, one row ahead of the smoking section and their were other non-smokers who got their after me who were SOL and right in the smoking section.

Date: 2006-04-09 09:38 am (UTC)Well, at least it seems all (most?) flights are non-smoking nowadays. I can just imagine the poor smokers... wonder if they buy nicotine gum, or something, to survive 11 hour flights, nowadays.
